Beirut’s tarnished modernity

Modern heritage is dying in Beirut, due to the war and property speculation. However, these are not the only reasons. According to George Arbid, architect and director of the Arab Center for Architecture (ACA), the modern remains of Lebanon’s capital are also endangered by a changing identity.
