Maison & Objet Projets. 3 questions to Meystyle

Could you present your firm and your latest projects?
Meystyle is a London –based design company specialized in LED wallpaper, an exclusive technology pioneered in 2004. Each roll of our LED wallpaper is individually hand made, which enables us to make patterns that are tailor made to their environments. We pride ourselves on fostering what we call ‘modern day artisan techniques’: we fuse technology with the tradition of hand-made crafts. We hand finish the surface of the wallpaper and fit each crystal and LED by hand, using our specially developed skills to insure the best results. Our mission has always been to rescue walls from the background, mixing bold patterns with LED lights to create a deep visual experience that transforms walls and wallpaper into works of art. Although a lot of our work lies in the residential sector, in the last few months we have been privileged to work on some very interesting projects such as the Kempinski hotel Budapest, Park Tower casino in Knightsbridge London and the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong.

You are participating to Maison & Objet Projets this year, which are the products and/or the innovative solutions dedicated to architects that you’ll be presenting?
Nowadays we are working on a new collection that will be presented at Maison & Objet Projets, in just a few weeks. The collections working title is ‘Changes’, which is a reflection of the experimental media we are using. True to our nature, we are trying to further push the boundaries of surface and texture; we have been layering, printing and then re-working the patterns manually, a process that has always fascinated us.

Which are according to you the future changes of your activity area, and which are the major challenges to be addressed by 2020?
This is a difficult question to answer, because change and development is unpredictable. As a small company, we work in real time and reflect on our current experiences rather than try to look and plan too much into the future. New technologies and materials come up all the time and we are always on the outlook and ready to adapt and develop together with the times.
