Building and rebuilding with stone. Jumièges, Cluny, Chaalis and others. There are countless examples of the reuse of stone. It is plentiful, requires little energy to work with, and is reusable. stone ticks all the boxes of sustainability. Unsurpassed in terms of architectural performance, nonetheless, it has virtually disappeared from the world of building in the name of modernity.
