Bêka & Lemoine, an international retrospective

For the past ten years, Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine have written, produced and directed numerous films that offer a new look at architecture and its narration processes. During a month, their work is the subject of a major international retrospective, with screenings in Copenhagen, Seoul and Kyoto.

May 6th and 7th, 2018 – Copenhagen

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, together with Copenhagen Architecture Festival (CAFx), dedicates two days to Bêka & Lemoine’s work with a series of projections, talks and a lecture. The program of the diffused films includes among others Homo Urbanus, Moriyama-San, Barbicania, The Infinite Happiness and 24 Heures sur Place. Conversations was organized between the two artists and Jakob Fenger from the artists’ group Superflex, as well as Karsten Ifversen, author and architecture critic from the Danish newspaper Politiken.

May 18thto 20th, 2018 – Seoul

The MMCA in Seoul will dedicate three days to Bêka & Lemoine’s work and will present a large program of films as well as a talk with Choi Wonjoon, architectural historian and professor at Soongsil University. The presented films will include Homo Urbanus, Moriyama-San, Barbicania, The Infinite Happiness, Selling Dreams and Koolhaas Houselife.

June 2nd and 3rd, 2018 – Kyoto

The MOMAK in Kyoto, for its part, will honor the filmmakers’ work during two days with a screening followed by a debate with Thomas Daniell and Kiyoshi Sey Takeyama, both architects and professors at the Department of architecture, Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University. The two days program will propose the broadcasting of the films Homo Urbanus, Moriyama-San, Barbicania, The Infinite Happiness, and Koolhaas Houselife.
